One chap, a Peter Martin of Suffolk took his girlfriend and chums along to a rollercoaster ride in the midlands where he made his girlfriend sit in the front, when the camera part of the ride came for the classic scary face rollercoaster souvenir pic, he and his friends held up the 4 words on separate cards reading, WILL, YOU, MARRY, ME?, whilst she was oblivious and only realised upon losing at the photography shop TV screens.

James Yaxley of Norwich went in for a more relaxed approach but hoped his girlfriends love of a takeaway pizza would win her heart. He inscribed the question on the inside of the pizza box! She had a warm meal and a hilarious memory for life - of course this was a great talking point on the wedding speeches too.

One guy in the Netherlands played the long game. He stood in front of a google street view car and held a poster saying 'Jenny will you marry me?' with a big smile on his face. When the street view was released (several weeks later) he directed her to the street in question... and boom! The rest is history!
