Some history of Manor Mews’s surrounding area
King's Lynn is the largest city in the heart of West Norfolk, and visitors will discover a city rich in heritage and maritime history. The town's history combined with the stunning Norfolk coastline (much of which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and the inherent charm of the surrounding countryside and pretty villages make it a great place to get married.
The city recently celebrated a special milestone in its history, the 800th anniversary of the signing of King John Charter. It was this charter that gave Lynn Borough status and gave it self-government powers - all reflecting the city's importance as a major trading centre.
As early as the 12th century, King's Lynn was one of England's most important ports, and it was probably as important in the Middle Ages as Liverpool during the Industrial Revolution.
